Marcie Callan began her movement career in 2001. After her very first Pilates class, she knew it was time to hang up her high heels, leave the cubicle behind, and pursue a life of learning and teaching mind/body exercise. She began her Pilates training in Philadelphia and upon moving back to Pittsburgh was first certified through Michele Larsson’s Core Dynamics program. (Michele is a protege of Eve Gentry, one of the “elders” of our community who learned from Joseph Pilates himself.)
After opening Pilates Sol in 2010, Marcie was accepted into first generation elder Lolita San Miguel’s Master Pilates Program. She is thus one of only a few Pilates instructors in Pittsburgh who are considered Second Generation teachers.
Marcie is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and is certified through the National Association of Speed and Explosion.
Diann Unruh was raised in Houston, Texas and finished high school studying at the Houston Ballet Academy. She enjoyed performing in regional dance companies, regional theatre and an international tour until an injury sidelined her performance career. She found Pilates during the rehabilitation process and immediately fell in love with the movement and it's restorative and strengthening principles.
Diann is a natural teacher and has been teaching and coaching for over 30 years. Her students have established careers in the dance industry and performance arts. After experiencing the benefits of Pilates first hand, Diann decided to pursue her first comprehensive certification with Peak Pilates in 2006. In 2016, Diann decided to expand her Pilates training to include not only the Classical Method of Peak, and went through the more Contemporary Pilates Method with Balanced Body.
Diann is thrilled to be at Pilates Sol, under the direction of Marcie Callan. She loves the clientele and is passionate to give each student personalized lessons that meet and exceed their goals.

Professionally working in a Personal Care Home and as a contract bookkeeper, she knows how hard and stressful a work day can be. She believes and uses Pilates as therapy; you are there to focus on your mind and body. Everything else can wait.
