If there’s one thing Kim Stokes’ Pilates journey and professional life have taught her, it’s that Pilates is more than a workout. It’s therapy. She believes and uses Pilates as therapy; you are there to focus on your mind and body. Everything else can wait.
Kim started her Pilates training at Pilates Sol in 2010 to increase flexibility and tone. She fell in love with the Pilates method and advanced into the teacher training program. After certification, Kim chose to stay at Pilates Sol and help other clients obtain their goals. She purchased Pilates Sol from her teacher, mentor, and friend Marcie Callan to carry on the Pilates Sol tradition of providing classical Pilates to everyone.
She is a traveler of the world and now attends conferences to enhance her understanding of the work while enjoying different cultures. She has a positive, laid back personality with an enthusiasm that will keep you moving without you even realizing you’re doing work. With an intuitive nature, Kim has a strong ability to help clients focus and gain the most from each session.
Professionally working in a Personal Care Home as the Business Office Manager, a contract bookkeeper and student working towards a Master’s in Healthcare Administration, she knows how challenging and stressful a work day can be. She believes Pilates and movement is essential to manage life-stress. Take time to focus on your mind and body, be present.
Marcie Callan began her movement career in 2001. After her very first Pilates class, she knew it was time to hang up her high heels, leave the cubicle behind, and pursue a life of learning and teaching mind/body exercise. She began her Pilates training in Philadelphia and upon moving back to Pittsburgh was first certified through Michele Larsson’s Core Dynamics program. (Michele is a protege of Eve Gentry, one of the “elders” of our community who learned from Joseph Pilates himself.)
After opening Pilates Sol in 2010, Marcie was accepted into first generation elder Lolita San Miguel’s Master Pilates Program. She is thus one of only a few Pilates instructors in Pittsburgh who are considered Second Generation teachers.
Marcie is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and is certified through the National Association of Speed and Explosion.
Amy spent her professional career traveling around as an Operations Manager at local health care facilities. After undergoing a radical breast cancer surgery she had limited her shoulder stability. Amy came to Pilates Sol and quickly found a new passion in the Pilates Method. It gave her the strength, confidence, and helped her be in the best shape of her life. Amy went through Club Pilates 500 hour comprehensive Pilates, TRX, Barre and Trigger Point training’s. She recently quit her job to teach others what Pilates has taught her.
“I love an early morning or late evening 30 minute stretch almost as much as an intense core stability hour!” ~ Amy
